Other Applications for Activated carbon
Guardian activated carbon when installed within your air filtration system projects your artefacts and treasures by catalytic conversion and absorption of harmful airborne pollutants and contaminants.
Activated carbon can act as a physical filter, remove excess ozone and also support biomass for improved water quality.
Activated carbon has been used for many years for the treatment of swimming pool water to remove organic matter, chloroform and ozone. Recently Chemviron Carbon has introduced Centaur CDC a special carbon with catalytic properties that is very effective for the removal of chloramine / bonded chlorine in swimming pools.
Special grades of carbons from coal and coconut shells are also used to make some of the world's top-selling brands of cigarettes and pipe charcoal-filters.
- Evaporative Loss Control Devide (ELCD) and Cabin Air
All vehicles sold in the European Union and in other countries, in particular the United States, are equipped with filters containing activated carbon. These filters may be used for treating the cabin air or to collect unburnt petrol vapours which would normally escape while a vehicle is parked. In the ELCD filters, when the car is started up, these vapours are recovered, resulting in a reduction in fuel costs and pollution.
