Activated carbon is the leading technology for the removal of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from air and other gases. In most cases, the compound can be removed to below the detection limit, meaning that the most stringent air quality regulations can be exceeded. The technology is reliable, simple and has been proven over many years.
Activated carbon is used for VOC abatement in the following applications:
- Chemical, petrochemical and Pharmaceutical Industries
- Adhesives – hexane and toluene
- Coating and Printing (rotogravure) Industries
- Degreasing and cleaning
- Dry Cleaning
- Painting and spray booth
- Groundwater remediation
- Soil vacuum extraction and air sparging
- Solvent Recovery
- Fibres and Viscose – Acetone, ethanol and Carbonyl sulphide recovery
- Tank venting and vapour recovery from transfer systems
- Ventilation and air conditioning systems
- Foam production – HFC recovery
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Magnetic tapes
- Photography products
ENVIROCARB AP3-60 and AP4-60, 3 and 4mm pelleted activated carbons are recommended for applications. The WS range of extruded activated carbon specifically developed for use in solvent recovery systems.
Chemviron also supply a range of standard and acid washed coconut carbons that provide a harder and purer product for more challenging VOC control applications.
Chemviron Carbon supply a range of adsorption systems for VOC removal including the Cyclevent® and PROTECT VENTSORB ® ranges.
