Chemviron Carbon: Air Treatment with Activated carbon

Continued industrialisation means increased levels of air contaminants and new environmental and health challenges. Emission regulations are tightening to meet these challenges, and Chemviron Carbon provides proven solutions to these problems.

VOCs in Air

Activated carbon is the leading technology for the removal of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from air and other gases. In most cases, the compound can be removed to below the detection limit, which means that the most stringent air quality regulations can be exceeded. The technology is reliable, simple and has been proven over many years.

Hydrogen Sulphide and Odour Control

Environmental awareness and concern for satisfactory working conditions has focused attention on the prevention of odour from sewage treatment works and other municipal and industrial effluent facilities. Noxious compounds such as hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans are readily trapped through adsorption followed by chemisorption or catalytic conversion, while other organic compounds can be adsorbed by carbon.

Fluegas

Incinerators dealing with Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), hazardous industrial waste, medical waste, sewerage sludge and crematoria results in the formation of a flue gas containing a range of pollutants. Dioxins and heavy metals such as mercury and cadmium are not normally removed to low enough concentrations by conventional treatment. The dosing of Powder Activated Carbon is an effective technology to remove these substances to the low limits required by legislation.

Toxic In-organics Compounds Removal

A range of industrial inorganic compounds and materials can be removed from gas streams, before venting to the atmosphere, using specialised impregnated or catalytic (Centaur) carbons.
